The Story Behind the Name

This is going to be kind of long, so stick with me Friends.. Kind Light Co was born from love, loss, faith, and a quiet calling I couldn’t ignore. We are located in the heart of the Triad of North Carolina. We serve the surrounding areas such as Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem.

For a long time, photography was something I held close to my heart but didn’t fully step into. It lived in the in-between moments, the way light fell on my kiddos, shells on the beach, finding ways to make things look pretty through the lens, and ultimately, the way memories felt safer when they were held in an image. Taking these images has always been just part of me. But the name Kind Light didn’t come from a branding brainstorm or a business plan. It came from life. It came from seasons of heart break.

A Work of the Heart

I continue to work alongside my family in our family business, something I’m proud of and grateful for. Kind Light Co lives right alongside that, in the quieter spaces of my life.

I’ve noticed that every time I’ve truly picked my camera back up, it’s been during seasons of hardship or heartbreak. After losing my baby Kyle at 21 weeks. After losing my mom last year. In those moments, photography became more than a creative outlet, it became a way to breathe again.

Picking up my camera has always lit a spark in me. A reminder that even in the hardest seasons, beauty still exists. Light still finds its way in. And passion can be rebuilt, one moment at a time. Kind Light Co was born from those seasons. From grief, faith, and the quiet healing that happens when you choose to create anyway.

A Light Shaped by Love

My mom was the kind of person who carried light with her wherever she went. Not the loud kind. Not the kind that demanded attention. But a gentle, steady light, who was full of kindness, warmth, and grace. If I could describe her it would be that she was a " Kind Light" and I strive to be the same.

After her passing last February the world felt dimmer in ways I didn’t know how to explain. Grief has a way of changing how you see everything, especially time. Moments feel fragile. Fleeting. Sacred. Photography became a way for me to hold onto what matters. A way to honor the love that shaped me. A way to preserve light in seasons where it feels easy to lose.

Faith at the Center

My faith is woven into everything I do, whether it’s spoken aloud or simply felt.

Jesus is the reason I believe beauty exists even in brokenness.

He is the reason I believe love outlives loss.

He is the reason I believe our stories matter.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

— John 1:5

That verse lives at the core of Kind Light Co. Because even in the darkest seasons  especially in them ...light remains.

What Kind Light Co Means to Me (and to You)

Kind Light Co is about more than photos.

It’s about:

  • The way your baby’s hand fits in yours right now
  • The way your family laughs when no one is trying too hard
  • The quiet strength of motherhood
  • The beauty of ordinary days
  • The seasons you don’t want to forget, even when they’re messy

I don’t believe in stiff posing or perfection. I believe in real connection. A calm presence. The moments in between.

My goal is for you to walk away not just with photographs, but with something you’ll treasure, something that brings you back to a feeling, a season, a love.

This Is Just the Beginning.

Kind Light Co is my way of honoring where I come from, who I’ve loved, and the God who continues to carry me forward.

It’s for the mothers who know how fast time goes.

For the families who want to remember this version of life.

For anyone who believes light is worth preserving.

Thank you for being here truly. I cannot wait to see what we can create together

With so much heart,

Lauren
